The standard

We build and test this site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard referenced in Americans with Disabilities Act settlements and the Department of Justice's web accessibility rule for public bodies.

What we have done

• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a skip link to the main content.
• Text and interface colors meet the WCAG contrast minimums, including text placed over photographs.
• Photographs carry written descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• Form fields have visible labels, required fields are marked, and error messages are announced and move focus to the field that needs attention.
• Headings, landmarks and page titles are structured so screen reader users can move around the page.
• The community map is supplemented by a full text list of the same communities, and each map marker is named.
• Motion respects your system's reduced-motion setting.
• Pages work at 200 percent zoom and on small screens without horizontal scrolling.

We test with automated tools (axe-core) and by hand with keyboard navigation and screen readers before each release.

Known limits

The interactive map depends on a third-party mapping library. If it does not work well with your assistive technology, the list beside it contains every community, its city and its number of homes, with a link to each community's own website. Some community websites and resident portals are run by other companies and are outside our control.
